Having checked out of our hotel in San Jose, our luggage is on the move once again, as are we.
We arrive in Fua in time to see some of the young men finishing up the floor in the church.
Putting up the first boards on the sides of the church. Just the day before, this wood was a tree growing in the jungle.
The first nails go in.
A crowd gathers to help. Everyone is excited to see the church move to the next level of construction.
As the building on the church continues, Sabrina presents the story "Jesus loves the children", and everyone gets a picture to color. Jenny Strebig translates.
One thing we have found over the years is that the Ayore love to color!!.
This young man was presented with a bible. He clearly seems to appreciate the gift. Judging from the picture, it seems his friend would have liked one as well.
Stopping for a photo..
Waiting for a crayon....
Hmmmmm....
Nice job!!
One young man wants Sabrina to see his artwork.
Sweet!
Sabrina making friends.
Sabrina, Jose, and Diane playing volleyball with the young men from Fua and Poza Verde.
Time for fun!
This boy had a good eye! He hit the ball nearly every time!! We left all of the sports equipment there in Fua, so don't be surprised if he goes pro one day.
This young girls gets in on the fun.
Time for a break.
Anticipation.
What to do next?
Snack break.
Uh Oh.... Silly Snow!
That's Tony McCarver buried under there!
Pure fun!!
Wanna play?
Getting to know us.
Pedro, the elder of the community in Poza Verde, examines the progress on the church.
Many know of him because of the scars he received on his face from a Jaguar that tried to attack one of his children... that is until Pedro intervened!
While the kids are busy playing, Toni, Mary, and Susan present a study to the ladies in the community. The theme of the study is to love the Lord your God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and body.
Some of the men attend as well.
Toni translates for Mary.
Benial is there..
as is the pastor from Fua.
After the study, each lady made a cross bookmark.
Everyone there helps the ladies make their crosses.....

Toni does a medical clinic while we are there. Thanks to the donated reading glasses which we brought, several are able to see much better now.
The pastor checks out his new glasses. He can read his bible much more easily now.
Brenda and Alyssa help Toni with the clinic..
Toni, Mirtha, and some of the ladies sing Amazing Grace
Toni, Mirtha, and Penny singing hymns with the ladies
Toni takes a much needed break and enjoys a warm little bundle.
Michael Brooks, our team leader.
The church is coming along nicely.
One girl has already made use of the beads we put in the caboodle we gave her.
The pastor helps to clean up from their meal.
Getting ready to hang the church bell we brought!!.
A moment we won't soon forget...
Benial and his family look on.
Placido gives it a long anticipated ring...
as does the pastor!!
He's ready for his first service!!
Toni and Tony give out hats to all of the men and boys.
Time for a group photo!!
Jose, Penny, and some new friends.
This little girl became especially attached to some of us.
The sunset was amazing. We had finished all that we could. There still remained one wood side and two brick sides to be put up. The foundation, the roof, and one of the sides however, was complete and the rest would go quickly.
After this picture was taken, the Ayore community leaders went into the church and everyone else joined them including us. The Ayore women led us in the singing of hymns. Pedro stood up and sang a hymn in the old style, a style no longer known by most. The young took turns standing up and reciting scripture as their parents and the elders applauded. Then, we all formed a circle around the outside of the church and held hands. Some from among us, and some from among the Ayore took turns leading us in prayer. We will never forget...
