Brenda began doing short-term missions in Dolval, Haiti in 2004 through Haiti Cheri Harvest Life Ministries. It was apparent from the very beginning that the people of Dolval touched her deeply. She immediately connected with the children of the village but more importantly they connected with her. Only after her second visit in the same year, the elders of the village invited her to come and work with their children as a full time missionary. After much prayer, discussion with Haiti Cheri, and counseling with her pastors, Brenda started preparations for full time ministry to the village of Dolval.
Unfortunately, in 2008, Haiti Cheri, Brenda’s sponsoring mission organization, had to withdraw from Dolval and Brenda will not be able to make the move that had been in the works for four years.
However, God has a plan. Without a doubt, Brenda’s heart lies on the mission field and she is still prepared to follow God wherever He might lead her to serve. MRI and Brenda have joined together to see God’s plan come to fruition.
Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV) Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
Brenda’s passion for working with the next generation is the driving force in her plans for full time missionary work. The children are the future and they need a strong foundation in Christ as the future leaders of the villages, towns, cities, and countries. She began the work in Haiti with the children of Dolval teaching VBS to both K-6 grade and young adults ages 13 – 20.
She has her ESL certification and has taught English classes to teens and adults, in Haiti, Honduras, and the US. She has a strong computer background and had started working with the teachers of Dolval in basic computer skills.
Other areas of experience on the mission field:
Honduras in June 2008 for a two week missionary training crash course taught by Allen and Vicky Skelton with 3D International (at that time called Whitefields). While there she worked teaching English to the elementary school children, teaching the Bible Club consisting of children K-6 grade, spending part of her time at a home for the elderly, an orphanage, and visited a village that the organization has adopted.
Bolivia with a team of 14 from June 25 – July 5, 2009 and while there she assisted with VBS, women’s ministry, and a medical clinic. While in Bolivia, she was able to meet and talk with many active missionaries and receive from them wise counsel and encouragement.
Brazil in April and June 2010 as a team facilitator for MRI working in construction of a training facility for the pastors to take the Word of God to un-reached people groups along the rivers, VBS, and women’s ministries.
God has been preparing Brenda for full time mission work and she strongly believes:
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
