Beloved Friend,

Last summer I went to Bolivia. All through the year two pictures have haunted my heart. One is a stack of unused bricks beside a church building. There is more work to be done. The other picture is of a small group of women with tears streaming down their cheeks greeting me with gratitude for coming. I have no names for their faces. These women gathered every day we were in Santiago and cooked supper for the team, 27 people. My heart grieves for my failure to understand soon enough.

I long to go back and see the bricks used. I ache with passion to put names to the faces that my heart sees so clearly.

I have begged The Lord to send me back, but with the way the economy is I don’t see how. I know The Lord has the resources and He can multiply my scant pennies. Who am I that I should have my desires fulfilled? Who am I that I should be a blessing to The Lord’s people there? I have no answers.

If The Lord lays it on your heart, pray for me and for His church in Bolivia, and these dear women who haunt me so.
